‘Inspired, profane, and impressively thorough’.
‘Excruciatingly insightful works’.
(What’s On London)
My name is Amy McAllister and I am a UK Anti-Slam champion.
This means that I am excellent at being shit.
My very first collection of poems, pick up lines, and wobbly drawings entitled Are You As Single As That Cream? is now available in Waterstones, on Amazon, from Burning Eye Books, or right here in the ‘Love For Sale’ section! It’s the ideal present for any home-town homie who already thinks you’ve turned into a hipster twat.
I have performed at lots of lovely spoken word events including Tongue Fu (Udderbelly Festival), Sylvia Plath’s Ariel (Royal Festival Hall), the Hammer and Tongue UK Slam Final (Royal Albert Hall), Stand Up and Slam, Jawdance, Sage and Time, The Bus Driver’s Prayer, Dodo Modern Poets, Beat Street Berlin, The Monday Echo, and many others. I have also performed on NTS Radio as a guest on the Re:Versed show and did some pretending-to-know-stuff-about-poetry for the BBC World Service. Live. I even managed not to say CUNT! Oops.
I was poet-in-residence at Bang Said the Gun and also at Angel Underground Station as part of Transport for London’s ‘Travel Better London’ campaign. Let it be known that I had nothing to do with those corkers that appear on the campaign’s posters. A selection of my work was featured in the ‘Snoring in the USA’ exhibition at NGBK Gallery and I hold the Farrago Zoo Award for Best Feature Debut of 2012. I’m published in Rhyming Thunder, the Pop-Up Anthology, The Playerist, and in several editions of South Bank Poetry Magazine.
